Emergency Services Patrol Supervisor

This position is part of the Behavioral Health and Recovery Division (BHRD) of DCHS and provides leadership and supervision for the Emergency Services Patrol (ESP) Team and coordinates the activities of the ESP Team with other departments and services. This position provides administrative oversight to the ESP program. The ESP Supervisor trains ESP staff to perform the Program Screener tasks and oversees their work. They also coordinate ESP activities with other services offered in King County. To be considered minimally qualified applicant must demonstrate a background that provides the knowledge, skills and ability to: Provide oversight for the day-to-day operation of the Emergency Services Patrol Team. Determine work assignments of ESP staff. Develop and implement relevant ESP policies and procedures. Train ESP staff to all function of the ESP staff position. Provide assistance and direction concerning technical work. Supervise and evaluate ESP staff performance and provide coaching and counseling related to job performance. Conduct ESP staff meetings. Direct activities during crisis situations. Mediate staff disputes. Respond to community questions and concerns regarding ESP. Troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise between constituents or system partners. Build and maintain critical relationship with external stakeholders and develop working agreements regarding the ESP program. Expand partnerships and develop relationships that are collaborative and coordinated across existing and new entities. Develop and in-depth knowledge of the myAvatar Electronic Health Record. Perform administrative duties of the ESP program including, but not limited to, handling correspondence, tracking, scheduling, reporting ESP data and ordering supplies. Assure that ESP services are in compliance with the all requirements according to WAC 246-341-0750. Assure that ESP services meet contract requirements. Participate in internal and external meetings to represent ESP services. Align workflow of division initiatives of equity and social justice, recovery-oriented system of care, and the goal to provide ESP and outreach services to the community. Perform other duties as assigned.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE:

Experience working in substance use or homelessness services. Knowledge of shelter and substance use resources in King County. Understanding of specific issues related to high-risk or high-need populations. Knowledge of group and team dynamics. Knowledge of and skill in administering CPR and first aid. Knowledge and skill in using Naloxone. Skill in detecting signs of intoxication from drug or alcohol use. Skill in conducting brief initial assessment of client condition and determining the need for services. Skill in defusing hostile, violent or challenging behavior. Skill in training, supervising, coaching, and counseling staff. Written and oral communications skills, including the ability to make presentations to diverse audiences. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of principles of equity and social justice and demonstrated ability to work with individuals and/or groups from diverse backgrounds Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a broad range of constituents, including, but not limited to, consumers, behavioral health providers, hospitals, law enforcement agencies, government officials, businesspeople, and advocates. Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks/projects, in detail, and meet deadlines. Strong facilitation skills and ability to promote consensus in decision making across DCHS/BHRD. Computer skills; knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Valid Driver's License Must pass a Washington State Patrol criminal background check on a post offer/pre-employment basis. Note: Selected candidate must have a current CPR card and current First Aid Card or be able to obtain within 90 days.

ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION:

This position has been designated Mission Critical. Unless otherwise directed by the County Executive, department director or agency head, all employees, regardless of designation, are expected to report to work or request leave during an emergency or inclement weather. The Behavioral Health and Recovery Division (BHRD) team works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is Chinook, 401 5th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime. Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 7am - 3pm.
