As a Sr. Staff Propulsion Engineer – Level 6 located in Promontory, UT, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. The preferred location for this role is Promontory, UT. Our domain provides rewarding work that contributes to the latest advancements being made in the aerospace and defense industry.This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Technical Lead and Program Liaison for material issuesIdentify opportunities and drive common materials initiativesLead and manage material obsolescence challengesManger Common engineering change processCoordinate and support material complianceTrain, mentor and support engineers with M&P responsibilitiesOther duties as assignedIf this job description reads like it was written specifically for you, consider joining our team!Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree (STEM) with 14 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree (STEM) with 12 years of professional experience – OR – PhD (STEM) with 10 years of professional experience.Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearanceStrong understanding of materials and processes used in a highly regulated environment.Excellent people and technical project management skillsExperience in conducting material trade studiesStrong knowledge of and ability to facilitate, coordinate and lead work across Propulsion Systems’ functions and disciplinesStrong problem-solving skillsAbility to remain resilient while overcoming challengesExcellent written and oral communication skills Preferred Qualifications:Strong experience with and broad application of Propulsion Systems engineering systems and functions (PLM, drawings, MRB, tooling, etc.)Strong understanding of materials and processes used in solid rocket motor design, manufacture, and testExperience with material obsolescence and qualification5+ years’ experience SRM-related project planning and executionExperience presenting to senior leadershipExperience generating Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for new work scope, and managing costs to an established budgetCurious about all the exciting developments with the Northrop Grumman Space Sector? Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
