MRI Technologist

Medical Associates is seeking a Full Time, Part Time, or PRN MRI Technologist to join their team! MRI technologists at Medical Associates are educated, trained, and licensed to perform a wide array of imaging exams and procedures on patients of all age. Schedule: Position is scheduled in 9-hour shifts between 6:00am and 5:30pm Monday Friday. No weekends or holidays!

Essential Duties:

• Perform special and general diagnostic medical imaging procedure producing quality images for interpretation by physician, specific skills in MRI
• Elicit patient histories from medical charts and the patient; explain and prepare patient for procedures
• Ability to post processor images and prepares study for Radiologist/Physician to read
• Communicate with Radiologist or Physician to select appropriate parameters
• Monitor patient's condition during procedure and initiate appropriate life support if necessary
• Keep work area clean, organized, and stocked with pertinent supplies
• Schedule patients and maintain accurate charge tickets
• Maintain proper information in the RIS, tracking images to various other locations
• Apply principles of magnetic safety and protection to both patients and staff
• Cannulate veins for administration of contrast material or other medications
• Perform Quality Assurance. reporting any malfunction to Manager Radiology

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience. Education: Equivalent to a two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study or certification. Board certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Other Skills: PACS, Cerner, MRI unit, gurney, wheelchair, injection paraphernalia, power injectors, and vein cannulization, as well as, MRI safety. Ability to work independently, multitask, complete quality exams in a fast paced environment. Good computer skills, as well as, strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Aspects: Stooping - Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles Crouching - Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Standing - Particularly for sustained periods of time. Walking - Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances. Pushing - Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward. Pulling - Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Lifting - Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. Fingering - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling. Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. Feeling - Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly. Hearing - Perceiving the nature of sound with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts. Vision - 20 / 40 or better in the best eye with or without correction. Repetitive Motions - Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds force constantly to move objects. Subject to Physical Hazards - Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
