DESIGN & MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Wolf Powder Coating is looking for a skilled Design & Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing fabrication and powder coating operation. This position will work closely with our sales, fabrication, laser, and production teams to turn customer concepts, drawings, and specifications into accurate, production-ready designs.

The ideal candidate is highly proficient in Autodesk Fusion and AutoCAD , understands metal fabrication and manufacturing processes, and can design with the production floor in mind.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create and modify detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings using Fusion and AutoCAD
• Develop production-ready drawings, models, layouts, and fabrication details
• Convert customer drawings, sketches, images, and concepts into manufacturable designs
• Prepare files for laser cutting, CNC fabrication, forming, welding, and assembly
• Design metal parts, brackets, panels, frames, gates, doors, architectural components, and custom fabricated products
• Review designs for manufacturability, material usage, tolerances, and production efficiency
• Create and maintain accurate DXF, DWG, and other production files
• Prepare drawings and documentation for the laser and fabrication departments
• Work directly with the production team to resolve design and fabrication issues
• Make design modifications based on production feedback
• Review customer drawings and identify potential conflicts or manufacturing issues before production
• Assist with estimating material requirements and production processes
• Develop standardized drawings, templates, and design procedures
• Maintain organized CAD files and revision control
• Work with management and sales to develop solutions for custom customer projects
• Support continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and designs

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+ years of professional CAD/design experience preferred
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Fusion
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD
• Experience creating drawings for manufacturing or fabrication
• Strong understanding of metal fabrication and manufacturing processes
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings
• Experience working with DXF and DWG files
• Understanding of dimensions, tolerances, materials, and fabrication requirements
• Ability to design with laser cutting and CNC manufacturing in mind
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet production deadlines
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working directly with welders, fabricators, laser operators, and management
• Experience with CNC laser cutting is a strong plus
• Experience with sheet metal design is a plus
• Experience with structural steel, aluminum, or other metal fabrication is a plus
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

The right candidate understands how a design will actually be built . You should be comfortable taking a concept from the computer screen to the laser, fabrication table, welding department, and finished product.

You should be able to look at a drawing and ask:

Can we build it? Can we build it efficiently? Can we reduce material waste? Can we make it easier to fabricate?
