Accounting SpecialistThe Accounting Specialist is a full-time, non-exempt, category one position with a 12-month work schedule beginning August 1. Reporting directly to the Treasurer/Licensed Fiscal Officer (LFO), the Accounting Specialist provides administrative and accounting support necessary for the effective management of Cincinnati Classical Academy's financial operations.Position OverviewThe Accounting Specialist is responsible for a variety of routine accounting and financial support functions, including accounts payable and invoice processing, payment request preparation, account reconciliation and analysis, budget calculations, and related financial recordkeeping. Working in coordination with the Treasurer/LFO and Director of School Operations, this position helps ensure financial transactions and records are processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with established procedures. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and a foundational understanding of accounting practices.Duties & ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial:Reviews, codes, and processes accounts payable invoices in a timely and accurate mannerMaintains accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with accounting best practicesPrepares journal entries and assists with month-end and year-end closing proceduresReconciles bank statements and internal financial recordsAssists in preparing reports, budgets, and financial statements for internal and external stakeholdersAssists in preparation of payment requests for various grants and federal fundsTracks purchases, reimbursements, and expense reports in line with school policyMaintains vendor files and manages communication regarding payment or account statusSupports the annual audit process by providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiriesAdministrative Support:Maintains organized files for all financial records, ensuring easy retrieval and confidentialityAssists with the implementation of accounting procedures and systems, as neededWorks closely with the Treasurer/LFO on special projects and financial analysisComputer SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly ExcelExperience with accounting software and financial management systems preferredQualificationsMinimum of 2 years' experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with specific experience in accounts payable preferredExcellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a high degree of accuracy and confidentialityAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlinesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsHigh level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential informationHigh school diploma or equivalent required; some post-secondary coursework in accounting or finance preferredStrong candidates will also embrace the school's organizational values, and align with community and partnership in the common pursuit of forming intelligent, virtuous citizensCompensation, Benefits and HiringPay is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
