Position Summary The Import & Export Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating international shipments by air, ocean, and ground, ensuring efficient movement of cargo, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service. This role supports both import and export operations, working closely with customers, carriers, overseas agents, customs brokers, and internal teams to ensure timely and cost-effective shipment execution. This position is ideal for a detail‑oriented logistics professional with experience in international freight forwarding who is looking to grow their career in global trade, customs compliance, and supply chain operations. Key Responsibilities Import & Export Operations Coordinate international import and export shipments by air and ocean from origin to final destination. Manage shipment documentation, routing, and operational milestones to ensure timely cargo movement. Communicate with customers, overseas agents, carriers, warehouses, and service providers regarding shipment status and requirements. Monitor shipments proactively and provide timely updates to customers and internal stakeholders. Resolve transportation, documentation, and operational issues as they arise. Documentation & Compliance Prepare, review, and process import and export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, air waybills, and other shipping documents. Coordinate customs clearance activities with licensed customs brokers.Support compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other government agency requirements. Assist with ISF coordination and other pre‑arrival compliance activities when applicable. Maintain accurate shipment records and audit‑ready documentation. Financial & Operational Controls Review carrier, vendor, and service provider invoices for accuracy. Verify freight charges, storage fees, demurrage, detention, and accessorial costs. Work with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to resolve billing discrepancies. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce transportation costs. Customer Service & Team Support Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, overseas partners, carriers, and vendors. Respond promptly to customer inquiries and provide exceptional service throughout the shipment lifecycle. Support colleagues across import, export, and logistics operations as needed. Contribute to process improvements and operational best practices. Qualifications & Requirements Required 2–3 years of experience in international freight forwarding, import operations, export operations, or logistics coordination. Working knowledge of international shipping documentation and freight forwarding processes. Experience coordinating with carriers, customs brokers, and overseas agents. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and transportation management systems. Preferred Experience with both import and export shipments. Familiarity with customs clearance processes, ISF filings, ACE, or CBP compliance procedures. Exposure to in‑bond shipments, bonded carriers, or customs‑related operations. Degree or coursework in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, International Trade, or a related field.
