Experienced Software Engineer - Developer

Overview Experienced Software Engineer - Developer for the B-52J CERP – Flight Software team in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The role supports the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization, focusing on modern engines for the B-52 Bomber flight software. Position Responsibilities Design, develop, integrate, and maintain non‑embedded software throughout the end‑to‑end lifecycle to meet industry, customer, safety, and regulatory standards. Review, analyze, and translate customer requirements into initial software design. Support development, maintenance, enhancement, and optimization of software products and functionalities for system integrations. Document and maintain software architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs. Debug and resolve issues identified to ensure reliability and efficiency of software products. Handle user inquiries, troubleshoot technical issues, and analyze user feedback. Implement current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development. Establish, monitor, and improve software processes, tools, and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks. Execute and document software research and development projects. Assist with software project management activities and software supplier management functions. Track and evaluate software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process compliance with project plans and industry standards. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline. 1+ year of experience with C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or Ada. 1+ year of experience with SAFE Agile and/or GitLab. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry. 1+ year of experience building Docker images, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, VXWorks Workbench, Git, VSCode Devcontainers. Experience with host environments, processors, operating systems, and networks. Ability to build, integrate, and troubleshoot software components. Experience with software programming languages and databases, including higher‑order, auto‑coded, and assembly languages. Experience with software architecture and design methodologies. Experience in software development processes in compliance with established internal and industry standards, guidelines, and best practices for development, testing, and deployment of software.
