What you’ll do:NinjaTrader’s growing Design organization is seeking an experienced, highly skilled, and collaborative Senior Design System Designer. Working closely with our Design Systems Lead, you’ll help evolve and scale our design system while enabling designers and engineers to build high-quality, consistent experiences across our trading platform. You’ll combine exceptional visual design craft with systems thinking, partnering across Product, Engineering, and Design to improve efficiency, accessibility, and product quality.In this role you will:Partner with the Design Systems Lead to evolve and scale NinjaTrader’s design system across web, desktop, and mobile experiencesCreate, document, and maintain high-quality reusable UI components, patterns, templates, and interaction guidelinesMaintain and extend design token architecture that supports scalable implementation across platformsCollaborate directly with Engineering to ensure design system components are accurately implemented and maintained in Storybook and productionIdentify opportunities to improve consistency, usability, accessibility, and efficiency throughout the product ecosystemBuild and optimize Figma libraries, variables, plugins, automation, and AI-assisted workflows to streamline design operationsSupport product designers by providing guidance, documentation, onboarding, and best practices for using the design system effectivelyContribute to governance processes that ensure the design system evolves intentionally while supporting product velocityHelp define and track adoption metrics, component health, and system usage to continuously improve the effectiveness of the design systemWhat you’ll need:7+ years of experience in UX, UI, or Product Design, including at least 2 years focused on design systemsDemonstrated experience designing, documenting, and maintaining scalable component libraries and design systems for complex digital productsExpert proficiency in Figma, including components, variables, auto layout, libraries, and modern workflow automationStrong understanding of design tokens, component architecture, and design-to-development workflowsWorking knowledge of Storybook and modern frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks) with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineersFamiliarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practicesStrong visual design, interaction design, and systems thinking skills with a portfolio demonstrating scalable design solutionsExperience balancing consistency with product flexibility across multiple teams and productsExcellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills with the ability to influence without direct authorityPassion for craftsmanship, continuous improvement, and elevating design quality across an organizationBonus points for:Experience building or supporting enterprise-scale design systemsExperience developing Figma plugins, automation, or AI-assisted design workflowsExperience measuring design system adoption through analytics or operational metricsExperience with Supernova, Zeroheight, or a similar design system documentation softwareExperience with composable component libraries (e.g. shadcn/ui)Experience in fintech, trading platforms, or other complex data-rich applicationsCompensation:The salary range for this role will be $110,000.00 – $160,000.00 USD. In addition, this position will also receive an annual target bonus of 10%. Bonus pay at NinjaTrader is based on individual performance (50%) as well as company/team performance (50%).Salary and bonus earnings are only two components of the total compensation package offered by NinjaTrader. NinjaTrader offers a 401K plan through ADP under which the company will match up to 3.5% of employee contributions. Annual paid time off allowance accrues at a rate of 18 days per year plus seven paid holidays. All offered compensation will be based on assessed experience and is subject to change at the offer stage.Location:This role is based in Chicago, IL. *There may be remote flexibility for exceptional candidates in the following states: California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington DC, Wisconsin.Hybrid:For Chicago-based employees, we follow a hybrid work schedule: In-office Tuesday through Thursday, with remote work on Mondays and Fridays.
