Overview The Division of Biostatistics in the Department of Population Health Sciences at the University of Utah seeks mid-career faculty with a strong record of funded research as a PI/MPI who will lead methodological research, collaborate with biomedical researchers, support and develop grant proposals, teach in the PhD Biostatistics program, and mentor graduate students. The position emphasizes leadership in multidisciplinary research within the institution and in national and international networks, with potential for future leadership roles and mentorship of junior faculty. Position Information Position/Rank : Associate Professor Department : 01721 - PHS - BIOSTATISTICS City : Salt Lake City, UT Track : New Position to Begin Responsibilities Lead methodological research and collaborate with biomedical researchers to advance the field of biostatistics. Develop and support grant proposals; teach in the PhD Biostatistics program; and mentor and advise graduate students. Foster leadership in multidisciplinary research teams within the institution and in national/international research networks. Pursue independent and collaborative methodological research in Biostatistics; mentor junior faculty; contribute to future leadership within the division. Affiliations and Initiatives Collaborate with Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI), Study Design and Biostatistics Center (SDBC), Utah Data Coordinating Center (DCC). Engage with initiatives including the DELPHI Initiative and Responsible AI (RAI); contribute to genomics efforts through the Center for Genomic Medicine (CGM). Areas of Methodological Interest Omics (e.g., metabolomics, transcriptomics, metagenomics) Data fusion Machine learning Intensive longitudinal data analysis Functional data analysis Statistical computing Generative AI Novel study designs Minimum Qualifications PhD in biostatistics or related discipline. Demonstrated excellence in collaborative and methodological research. Mid-career status with (1) history of funding as PI/MPI, (2) interest in mentoring graduate students and junior faculty, and (3) commitment to team science.
