Job Title: Saw Operator and Production Associate Job Description

This role focuses on operating a variety of saws to cut raw materials to precise dimensions, supporting general production tasks, and assisting with local deliveries and pickups. You will contribute to efficient shop operations by performing accurate cutting, basic assembly, and machine operation while maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Responsibilities

• Cut raw materials to the appropriate size using a table saw, band saw, and cold saw while following measurements and specifications.

• Set up, operate, and monitor saws and related equipment to ensure accurate and consistent cuts.

• Use a tape measure and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances before and after cutting.

• Perform deburring and basic finishing on cut parts to remove sharp edges and prepare materials for further processing or assembly.

• Support general production and assembly tasks as needed, including basic machine operation and bending-related activities.

• Drive the company van for local deliveries and pickups, ensuring materials are transported safely and on time.

• Maintain general housekeeping of the saw area and the machine shop to keep the work environment clean, organized, and safe.

• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and working in the shop.

• Participate in an on-site interview and practical evaluation to demonstrate saw operation and related skills.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating saws such as table saws, band saws, and cold saws in a production or shop environment.

• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure to verify dimensions and ensure precise cutting.

• Basic experience with production and assembly work, including handling raw materials and finished parts.

• Capability to operate a drill press and other basic shop machinery safely and effectively.

• Comfort with general machine operation in a manufacturing or shop setting.

• Willingness and ability to drive a van for local deliveries and pickups as part of daily responsibilities.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety while working with cutting and drilling equipment.

• Reliability and punctuality for a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Forklift certification is a strong plus but not required; candidates without certification should be willing to learn.

• Experience with deburring and basic finishing processes on metal or other raw materials.

• Background in bending operations or related metalworking tasks.

• Prior experience in a shop, machine shop, or manufacturing environment.

• Ability to complete and perform well in an on-site interview and practical assessment.

• Comfort working in a contract role of approximately 4 to 6 weeks, with potential for extension depending on business needs.

Work Environment

This position is based in a machine shop environment with a strong focus on saw operation and general production work. You will regularly use equipment such as table saws, band saws, cold saws, drill presses, and other production machinery, as well as measuring tools like tape measures. The role may involve handling raw materials, performing deburring and bending tasks, and working around forklifts and other material-handling equipment. The schedule is typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some flexibility in start or end times. The work is hands-on and may require standing for extended periods, lifting materials, and following standard shop safety practices, including wearing appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment as required by the shop.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $43000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
