UTILITIES CUSTODIAN I Department: 201/Water & Sewer Admin Exempt: No Reports To: Utilities Project Coordinator II Pay Grade/Wage: 101 Position Type: Full-Time Hours: 40 hrs/week Job Summary: This position performs a variety of cleaning and housekeeping tasks under general supervision of the Utilities Project Coordinator. Duties may involve the use of hand and power cleaning tools and the operation of a light hand truck as a part of the assignment. Duties will be performed during regular office hours. Candidate will report directly to the Utilities Project Coordinator. Job Description: DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. Performs routine custodial work and minor repairs. Performs duties such as vacuuming, dusting, and mopping. Ability to clean restrooms, including floors, walls, toilets, sinks and other fixtures and items found within restrooms. Interior / Exterior window cleaning. Empty and maintain trash collection cans and recycle bin. Ability to clean other fixtures such as lights, water fountains, and sinks. Ability to work off of a small ladder or reach to clean overhead lights and book shelves. Ability and agility to bend and stoop to clean items close to the floor. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma or comparable amount of education, training, or experience is preferred. Some experience in custodial/janitorial work is preferable as well as work which involves custodial/janitorial hand and power tools. LICENSES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to read and write. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public. Ability to develop and maintain good personal relationship with other employees and the public. REASONING ABILITY Ability to follow and apply common sense understanding, to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to work independently and in a diligent manner. Ability to use various hand and power tools related to the job. Knowledge of simple hand and power tools. Good physical condition is essential. WORK ENVIRONMENT/ADA This job requires walking, standing, pushing, bending, stooping, cleaning equipment operation and driving short distances. The employee will usually work in an office environment and may work outside in various weather conditions. Working from heights, in dusty conditions, with hands, feet, and/or legs and will handle chemicals.
