Major duties and responsibilities include: Overseeing the operation of one pool, along with all associated aquatics programs including swim lessons, parties, special events, camps, swim team, swim meets, PRT, & related activities. Reviewing patron usage & assessing program needs. Researching and recommending additions and/or changes to current programming providing data to substantiate. Ensuring all aquatics programs are suited to site patronage and within facility limitations while meeting all time and financial constraints. Running a well-rounded and comprehensive aquatics program for Active-Duty, Active-Duty family members, Retirees, Retiree family members, and DoD Civilians. Overseeing the maintenance of one pool, pool facilities, pump house and equipment in support of the aquatics program. Keeping accurate maintenance records and ensuring proper water chemistry is always maintained by consistently monitoring. Maintaining internal controls over all aquatic's facilities, equipment, vehicles, supplies, and fees. Administering all safety programs related to an aquatic operation and maintaining a safe and healthful environment for all patrons and aquatics personnel. Assisting in the preparation and administration of the annual aquatics budget. Preparing all necessary paperwork and documentation used in the purchase of supplies and equipment in support of the aquatic's operation. Supervision shall include, but is not limited to the following: Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the one pool, programs, and staff, both on a seasonal and year-round capacity. Ensuring that all lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors (WSI) maintain up-to-date required training certifications as required by their position and can execute emergency action plans for their area of responsibility. Administering written and practical water safety tests to ensure the qualifications of lifeguards and instructors assigned to the swimming pool and beaches are met. Recruitment, interviewing, selection, orientation, training and evaluating performance. Incumbent counsels, issues basic disciplinary actions, recommends awards and approves leave. Responsible for the operation of the swimming lesson program to include: planning and implementation, ensuring compliance with American Red Cross standards, maintaining records, reporting data to the Red Cross. Monitoring the handling of funds and ensuring that the DAR's are properly submitted. Performing lifeguarding duties. Conducting Red Cross CPR/AED, and first aid training for all MWR Fort Worth Fitness, Sports and Aquatics Division staff as required. Assist in other Fitness, Sports, and Aquatics Division events as well as MWR Fort Worth events as assigned. Performing other duties as assigned. Knowledge Required by the Position Ability to carry out aquatics program competently and independently through the proper application of principles, concepts, and techniques of recreation to satisfy specific needs of the community to be served. Skill in planning and carrying out an enhanced programming in aquatics which meets the needs of the participating community. Knowledge of effective lifeguarding procedures and techniques. Skill in performing and teaching techniques of swimming and lifesaving. Knowledge of principles and techniques of maintaining proper water chemistry and machinery. Ability to learn and comply with all Navy Health and Safety requirements as well as program policies and procedures. Ability to develop and effectively deliver presentations and/or trainings. Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing. Knowledge gained through the successful completion of a baccalaureate program with a major study appropriate to the field of aquatics recreation OR at least three years of experience that shows a demonstrated knowledge of the techniques, principles, and methods utilized in the operation of a pool and/or ocean-front (beach) area aquatics operation. Incumbent must have had at least three years of experience at the Lead Lifeguard or Lifeguard Captain Level. Knowledge of the safe use and operation of aquatics equipment, facility operations and basic aquatics equipment maintenance/repair. Supervisory controls work under the supervision of the Fitness Director. Incumbent uses initiative in completing daily/routine assignments and receives general guidance.
