Openings as of 5/5/2026 Custodian - Day Shift School Year 26-27 JobID: 2381 Position Type: Custodial Services/ Custodian - Day Shift Date Posted: 4/22/2026 Location: Elementary/Middle/High POSITION INFORMATION Schedule: 12 months; 8 hours/day Status: Full-Time 25-26 Hiring Range: To Be Determined 26-27 Hiring Range: $15.60-- $24.33/ hour DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs routine custodial duties, such as emptying trash and dusting furniture, fixtures, walls, and equipment. Vacuums, sweeps mops and machine scrubs throughout the school building, to include hallways, classrooms, cafeteria, library, offices, and gym. Sanitizes cafeteria tables, water fountains and restroom facilities, to include toilets, counter tops, and sinks. Cleans windows and mirrors. Stocks paper products as needed. Checks building exterior and interior for cleanliness and possible damage. Maintains grounds and parking lot, clearing areas of paper and debris. Prepares buildings for special meetings and events. Moves furniture, sets up chairs as needed and cleans after the event. Performs minor repairs and assembles furniture and equipment as needed. Notifies supervisor or principal of broken or damaged items or areas that require a work order. Assists in loading and unloading delivery trucks. Ability to complete basic cleaning tasks as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or GED. Experience as a custodian is preferred. Knowledge of the cleaning methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work, and the ability to use them safely, economically and efficiently. Requires ability to measure, handle, and label chemicals correctly. Ability to observe and report needs for maintenance and supplies, and perform routine maintenance tasks. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to get along well with students, officials, and the general public. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with fellow employees, school staff, and the public. Some assignments may require travel from one location to another. A valid driver's license may be required. PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES Sufficient strength, agility, and dexterity to perform all required tasks. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and climate conditions. Ability to lift, move, transport supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with manual or mechanical assistance and utilizing appropriate safety gear as per OSHA guidelines. HAZARDS/UNUSUAL DEMANDS Work requires exposure to cleaning liquids and other potentially toxic substances. Some cleaning activities may require exposure to blood, excrement, urine and other body fluids. Work involves some exposure to heat and dust. Position requires work during evening/night shifts.
