Center for Cultural Landscapes Fiscal TechnicianThe University of Virginia seeks a Fiscal Technician in the School of Architecture's Center for Cultural Landscapes. This is an active center that hosts events, produces scholarships, and engages in participatory action research. The Center for Cultural Landscapes (CCL) Fiscal Technician is a full-time staff member who reports directly to the faculty director as her assistant and manages all financial processes for the Center staff. The fiscal technician position is divided between financial functions for the Center and serving as an assistant to the Faculty Director. This position supports processing travel planning, reimbursements, and invoicing for CCL staff, the Faculty Director, advisory board members, and grantees. They process subgrantee and stipend payments. The Fiscal Technician performs various support duties across multiple financial disciplines, including accounting, budgeting, payroll, financial analysis, purchasing, grants administration, and treasury. Fiscal Technicians are often responsible for data entry and reporting within the University's various financial systems. They perform routine duties under close supervision and seek guidance from supervisors or other experienced team members as needed. The Fiscal Technician will also support an entire research group, as well as teams, committees, and tasks or functions related to special grant-funded initiatives and related Center activities.ResponsibilitiesManage the team and director calendars using Outlook and scheduling softwareSupport event logistics including guest itineraries, food ordering, and event set upMake travel arrangements when necessarySupport overall fiscal needs related to subgranteesAssist supervisor and faculty with the creation of budgetsMonitor the expenditures in assigned awards and projects to ensure adherence to budget allocation and spending guidelines, making corrections as neededAdvise and assist supervisors, faculty, and staff on financial matters as needed, providing up-to-date guidance on University financial policies and proceduresOversee entry of all expenses and receipts, monthly reconciliations, Workday budget entry requests, cost transfers, and records maintenance for all organizational awards and projectsPrepare and post recurring, standard, and monthly journal entries, bank account reconciliations, and document discrepancies, ledger entries, original entries, reconciliations, and trial balancesGather, compile, and evaluate financial, statistical, and operational data for reports to foundations and county, state, and federal agenciesProcess billing and collection paymentsArrange for travel reimbursementGuide registration in PayMode for consultants and vendorsIn addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assignedMinimum Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience: 3+ years of relevant professional experience required. Preferred QualificationsAssociate degree preferred5+ years of financial and administrative experienceWorkday financial management experience preferredExperience coordinating and managing calendars and travel arrangements, including scheduling, logistics, and itinerary planningMicrosoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook and SharepointPhysical Demands This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs. Anticipated Salary Range is $52,000 - $55,000, commensurate with education and experience.
