Job Details Position: Mechanical Engineer Position Type: Contract to Hire Location: Rochester Hills, MI Pay: $35-45 Shifts: 8am-5pm Position Summary The Engineer (Robot Controls and Dress out) is responsible for the development and engineering of controls and dress out designs for the Product Plus Group (PPG) with a focus on efficient and accurate execution to help drive customer satisfaction along with overall project profitability. The ideal candidate is a customer-focused, problem-solver who has experience with robotics in various applications and proven ability to develop controls and dress out prints. Position Responsibilities Engineer custom product plus solutions based on quoted project deliverables, change orders, and overall customer needs. Develop dress out specifications to meet application needs and work with dress out suppliers. Develop a plan and drawings for: Robot with dress out installed. Air/Water preparation equipment. J3 equipment/pneumatics. Robot controller interface package. Order robot configurations, dress outs, and interface solutions on time and per customer specifications. Hold engineering design reviews and maintain a high level of engineering accuracy following ISO procedures. Provide regular communication/status updates to project team members and FAC management. Provide customer support including application and implementation guidance and design approvals. Release approved engineering packages in ERP for each project. Support Continuous Improvement of PPG Engineering Standards and refinement of ISO processes. Manage project costs through efficient engineering and focus on lower cost solutions. Support manufacturing/integration efforts on FAC floor including testing plans for run-off validation. Create and deliver technical presentations for internal and customer training. Support failure analysis and troubleshooting efforts and present root cause and corrective action to customers. Support integrators and line builders trying to integrate and install new robotic applications. Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or dual background in both) or related technical field; or equivalent, relevant experience. Minimum two years of experience of industrial automation design with CAD software package. Ability to create and read electrical interface, robot mechanical dress out and pneumatic prints.
