Lead Software Engineer, Data Engineering

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We expect formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, along with 5+ years of applied experience with a strong emphasis on data engineering.
• We need experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming languages, with Python as the primary language and Java as secondary.
• We value hands-on experience with PySpark or similar distributed data processing frameworks.
• We require strong expertise in DBT and modern ETL development practices.
• We look for experience with workflow orchestration platforms such as Control-M or Apache Airflow (MWAA).
• We seek expertise in AWS data services, including Glue, Athena, CloudWatch, and Lambda.
• We need knowledge of modern open table formats such as Iceberg and/or Delta Lake.
• We require experience with Snowflake administration and development.
• We expect strong SQL skills and experience with modern database technologies.
• We value experience driving team adoption of enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering practices, including code review, refactoring, test strategy acceleration, and incident or root-cause analysis support, while maintaining secure coding, peer review, and automated testing standards.
• We look for experience using tools within the software development life cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities.
• Preferred experience includes Kafka, Flink, or other streaming technologies.
• Preferred familiarity with AI/ML technologies such as LLMs, prompt engineering, vector search, and responsible AI practices.
• Preferred experience using AI-assisted software development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar tools.
• Preferred financial services industry experience and understanding of large-scale enterprise data environments.
• Preferred experience mentoring engineers and leading technical delivery initiatives.

• We design, develop, and optimize large-scale ETL data pipelines.
• We build high-quality Python applications using modular code, reusable components, logging, and automated testing.
• We develop and maintain distributed data processing solutions using PySpark.
• We design and validate large-scale end-to-end testing.
• We implement and support workflow orchestration using Control-M or Apache Airflow (MWAA).
• We develop cloud-native solutions using AWS services such as Glue, Athena, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
• We design and manage modern data lake architectures using Iceberg and/or Delta Lake.
• We administer and optimize Snowflake environments, including streams, tasks, roles, and warehouses.
• We participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices, testing standards, and CI/CD processes.
• We use approved AI-assisted development tools responsibly to support secure, compliant software delivery.
