Job Description Accounting/Payroll Specialist Compensation & Benefits Pay Rate: $70,000 - $95,000 Per Year Pension: Middlesex Retirement Health Insurance: 70% Employer Paid Potential for flexible work schedule Responsibilities Full‑service payroll oversight and post‑payroll processing as primary functions. Process bi‑weekly payroll for approximately 200 employees with a wide range of deductions, working with HR and the Director of Finance & Operations. Oversee the entire payroll process. Reconcile and submit retirement deductions to various agencies. Generate reports to be audited and signed. Take ownership of entering and validating deductions. Bank reconciliations. Prepare journal entries. Research discrepancies. Assist in end‑of‑year audit. Qualifications Must have 3+ years of relevant municipal experience. Software experience with MUNIS and/or School ERP (Infinite Visions) is highly preferred. At least 5+ total years of payroll and accounting experience. Excellent organizational skills. Positive and proactive attitude. Customer service orientation. Strong communicator. Physical Demands While performing duties, the employee is occasionally required to walk, use hands to type, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, bend, walk up and down stairs, sit for prolonged periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, copy machines, fax, phones, shredders, and filing cabinets.
