About the Position

• Preparing patients for surgery by conducting pre-operative assessments and obtaining informed consent
• Assisting surgeons during operations by maintaining a sterile environment, passing instruments, and monitoring patient vitals
• Administering medications, including anesthesia, as directed by the surgical team
• Providing post-operative care, including monitoring recovery and managing pain
• Educating patients and their families about pre- and post-surgical care and expectations
• Maintaining detailed and accurate patient records and documentation
• Ensuring compliance with all surgical protocols, standards, and safety procedures
• Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to plan and execute surgical procedures
• Monitoring inventory and ordering necessary surgical supplies and equipment
• Participating in continuing education to stay current with best practices and advancements in surgical nursing

Requirements

Patient Population: Pediatrics to Geriatrics
Certifications Required: BLS
General Skills and Work Setting Requirements: Need an RN operating room circulator with at least 1 year circulator experience in the intraoperative setting; Specialties include: Retina surgery, total hip/knees, Hand surgery, breast oncology, breast reconstruction, ENT, Lap Chole, Hernia repairs, Podiatry
Ratio / Census: 1:4; 5 rooms with average daily census of 18
