Welder – Carolina Spiral Carolina Spiral & Duct Fabrication, LLC has an opening for a Welder – Carolina Spiral. Roles and Responsibilities Work with Shop Foreman and Superintendent to meet production schedule Provide the best quality and productive work without constant reminder Perform welding procedure according to order Fabricate and construct duct segments and attach fittings according to plans Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components, or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products or pipe. Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions. Ignite torches or start power suppliers, and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded. Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding and laser welding. Recognize, set-up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance with specifications. Check to ensure that each job order is accurate and complete. Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors. Communicate with superintendent and management Follows all safety policies and procedures. Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time. Qualifications and Requirements Minimum of 2 years' duct welding (shop or field) to include all the following procedures: MIG TIG Stick Must be able to pass an in-house welding test Must have own hand tools including welding hood Required Education: High School diploma and/or equivalent work experience. Must successfully pass a background check & drug test. Regular and supervisory probation period required, if applicable. Ability to pass random drug testing is required. Valid driver's license and clean driving record required. Physical Demands: Occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing. Constant standing, walking, reaching, and gripping. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC). Material Handling: Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. and constant lifting up to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC). Work Environment Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working high exposure places.
