Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Location

Columbia, SC | Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights (3x12 Hours, 19:00–07:30) | Onsite | Expected 36 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 41-bed progressive care trauma/telemetry unit primarily serving adult patients recovering from traumatic injuries, including those related to gunshot wounds, penetrating injuries, assaults, motor vehicle crashes, and falls
• Manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, flexing up to 1:5 as needed, for hemodynamically stable patients requiring post-surgical or post-traumatic care
• Monitor patients using telemetry equipment; unit is equipped for telemetry monitoring for up to 14 patients
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, Radiology, Social Services, and more
• Complete pre-assignment testing and required modules within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• Float to other units and/or campuses as needed based on census, limited to areas where competencies have been demonstrated and documented

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• AHA ACLS certification required
• BLS/BCLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Telemetry (TELE) competency required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a PCU/progressive care or equivalent unit
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
• Medication test required prior to assignment
• 6 weekend shifts per every 6-week schedule required
• First-time travelers must have 2+ years of relevant experience
• Must live at least 50 miles from the contracted campus to be eligible; candidates between 50–99.9 miles may be subject to a reduced bill rate; candidates under 50 miles are ineligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for surgical trauma patients in a progressive care or step-down setting
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring in a high-acuity environment
• Prior travel nursing experience in a trauma or PCU setting
