Utilization Management Summer Intern

Shield HealthCare is looking for a Utilization Management Summer Intern in our Valencia, CA corporate office to process documents within specified software supporting order processing, documentation, and customer needs. This role will also support interdepartmental cross-functionality with exposure to the Utilization Management Customer Support team.

This is an on-site position in Valencia, CA

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process prescription responses received from clinicians.
• Process authorization responses received from insurance plans.
• Review clinicals, completing data entry and achieving documents in specified programs and locations.
• Complete document staging for authorization renewals.
• Process failed faxes.
• Perform general administrative duties such as data entry, scanning, document preparation, and record organization.
• Support cross-functional projects and initiatives as assigned.
• Assist in documenting workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in business administration, communications, marketing, healthcare administration, health sciences, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Teams).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized with the ability to work accurately, managing multiple priorities, and meeting deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
• Demonstrated problem solving ability.
• Data entry experience preferred.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

SALARY:

• $18.47/hour
