Senior Research Associate
Natera
Natera seeks an Associate Scientist to join the R&D Platform team and develop scalable genomic assays for oncology applications. The role requires hands-on expertise in next-generation sequencing and automated laboratory platforms to advance the product portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute laboratory experiments independently, including extractions, library preparation, and sequencing
- Collaborate with project teams to develop and validate assays for commercial product launch
- Analyze experimental findings, troubleshoot protocols, and optimize laboratory methodologies
- Perform basic data analysis and communicate results across multidisciplinary teams
- Document protocols, standard operating procedures, and scientific reports per quality management requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field with 4-6 years assay development experience
- Master's degree in molecular biology or related field with 2+ years industry experience
- Expert knowledge of NGS technologies, DNA/RNA extraction, library preparation, and hybrid capture methods
- Proficiency in data analysis using R, JMP, or Excel
- Demonstrated independent scientific judgment in experimental design and troubleshooting
- Ability to perform high-throughput manual laboratory work including pipetting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with cross-functional teams
