Duties

Help

• Advise wing, base, and leadership on Aerospace Medicine Standards topics such as medical standard issues, required training, deployment processing, and force health programs.
• Establish metric and analysis systems to assess efficiency, effectiveness, and regulatory compliance of medical standards activities.
• Serve as the liaison between squadron/unit commanders, supervisors, and health care providers concerning medical clearances.
• Apply medical standards to determine medical qualifications of active duty, Air National Guard (ANG), Air Force Reserve (AFR), and eligible civilian government employees.
• Manage the Medical Treatment Facility's overseas clearance program for active-duty personnel scheduled to relocate to overseas locations.
• Conduct quality reviews of Duty Limiting Conditions, physical examinations, and clearances.
• Assist Primary Care Manager and Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer with members requiring Medical Evaluation Board action.
• Engage with customers and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policies and procedures, and resolve issues that arise.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis Testing and/or record of Tuberculosis Testing.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• Position may require overtime.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing medical documentation and/or data to provide recommendations on cases, and interpreting medical standards guidance and/or policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education : Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
