Reading Specialist

What You'll Do:

Provide individualized, one-to-one reading instruction to middle and high school students with diverse learning needs, skill levels, and learning profiles.

• Assess students' reading abilities to identify strengths and areas for growth in phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and written-text analysis, as appropriate.
• Develop and implement individualized reading intervention plans based on assessment results, student needs, and established learning objectives.
• Support students in developing reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, and the ability to independently analyze and interpret complex texts.
• Teach in a truly personalized way - one student at a time.
• Differentiate and personalize academic instruction and support social and emotional development in students ranging from 4th - 12th grades.
• Build strong, consistent partnerships with parents and guardians.
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to campus life or culture.
• Keep student records accurate and organized.
• Invest in your own growth through reflection, feedback, and ongoing professional development.

What We're Looking For:

• Reading Specialist certification required.
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees or a teaching credential is a plus.
• Ability and willingness to teach a wide range of English courses (English Composition, Literature, and Language Arts), following content standards - curriculum and resources provided.
• Experience working with students, including those with learning differences, neurodiversity, accelerated learning needs, and/or mental health challenges.
• Mentoring experience and a passion for social-emotional learning.
• Outgoing, adaptable, and eager to thrive in a dynamic, student-centered environment.
• Skilled with technology, curious about innovation, and open to learning new tools.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• A growth mindset with the flexibility to pivot and problem-solve as needed.
