Duties include designing and supporting networking systems and related software, providing day‑to‑day network support, training staff, troubleshooting, and collaborating with the Security Engineer to maintain compliance. Responsibilities may also involve writing test and integration plans, assisting the Network Architect, maintaining support contracts, and supporting overall technology infrastructure. Essential Functions Adhere to district policies regarding computer and data use, including strong password usage and data safeguarding. Administer district policies for computer and data access, such as updating Directory Service Clients and setting passwords. Design effective and efficient computer networks (internet, intranet, email services, content filtering, directory services; switches, firewalls, radius, etc.) in compliance with district policies. Design, maintain, and test backup and disaster recovery systems to protect data. Develop and maintain internal documentation to enhance staff utilization of network systems and applications. Install and configure reliable network‑based servers (Windows, Linux, SAN, etc.) and install patches, upgrades, and support district systems. Install, configure, and troubleshoot workstation clients, routers, and switches. Maintain files and records (permission levels, network identification, security access, licenses, work logs, etc.) for documentation, troubleshooting, and audit trails. Monitor status of district‑wide and site‑level networks to ensure availability of files and peripheral devices. Participate in meetings, workshops, and trainings to convey and gather information required for job functions. Perform initial server and router set‑ups, including installation, testing, configuration, password assignment, security clearances, and imaging. Prepare written materials (procedures, documentation, reports, memos, email, etc.) for documentation and communication. Provide training and in‑service sessions on general computer use, security, software applications, and file server operations. Research current and emerging technologies and recommend system implementations to improve infrastructure. Research software applications to recommend standardized applications in line with district technology goals. Respond to requests for help, repairs, training, and upgrades via telephone, email, work order, ticket, chat, etc. Troubleshoot issues with user workstations and district servers to maximize service availability. Other Functions Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements Skills: Teaching technical topics to non‑technical audiences; adhering to safety practices; planning and managing projects; diagnosing problems. Knowledge: Algebra and geometry; reading technical information; composing documents; facilitating group discussions; current generation and legacy operating and networking systems (Windows, Mac, Novell); hardware/network troubleshooting techniques; network security; office application software. Abilities: Scheduling activities; collating data; flexible working with varied processes; working with diverse individuals; problem solving; developing effective working relationships; communicating across technical skill levels; providing clear instructions; setting priorities. Experience: Job‑related experience within Information System and Data Security. Education: Community college or vocational school degree with study in networking technology. Required Testing: Pre‑Employment Proficiency Test may be required. Certificates and Licenses: CompTIA, Security+, CCISP or equivalent; Valid Driver's License & Evidence of Insurability. Continuing Education/Training: Annual district training; maintain certificates and/or licenses. Clearances: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance. Responsibilities Responsibilities include working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods, leading, guiding, and coordinating others, operating within a defined budget, and utilizing resources from other work units to perform job functions.
