At HAHN Automation Group, our Software Controls Engineers do more than maintain or make repetitive changes to the same production line. You build the controls software that brings custom automated manufacturing equipment to life. Every project presents a new engineering challenge, giving you the opportunity to design, program, troubleshoot, and commission systems rather than simply keep an existing process running.

You’ll develop and install software for custom automation using a variety of technologies, including PLCs, HMIs, robot controllers, motion controllers, machine vision, LabVIEW, and other automation platforms. You’ll work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers as well as customers to develop solutions that meet both equipment requirements and customer expectations.

And the work doesn’t stop at the computer. You’ll be directly involved in debugging and commissioning the equipment you helped create, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software systems to understand how everything works together.

Locations

HAHN Automation Group has locations in Miamisburg OH, Hebron KY, Columbia SC, and Brooklyn Park MN. Our Miamisburg OH and Hebron KY locations are actively recruiting for Software Controls Engineers. When applying please be sure to specify your preferred location or if you are open to relocation.

Qualifications and Skills

• 3+ years of experience programming industrial automation equipment
• Hands-on PLC programming experience (Ladder Logic required, Structured Text a plus)
• Experience with HMI development
• Experience with motion control, robotics, machine vision, and industrial communications
• Ability to develop control software from the ground up
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field or work equivalent experience
• The ability to travel to customer, supplier, and/or inter-company sites via vehicle or airplane (both domestic and international)
• Must be authorized to work now and in the future for any employer in the United States without employment visa sponsorship
• Valid driver’s license with driving record of acceptable risk as defined by HAHN Automation Group insurance company
