Ringgold County Hospital is seeking an experienced and dependable Phlebotomist / Laboratory Assistant to join our Laboratory team. This position is ideal for a skilled phlebotomist who enjoys patient interaction and would like to expand their role by supporting laboratory operations, organization, registration processes, and quality documentation. The Phlebotomist / Laboratory Assistant plays an important role in providing excellent patient care by collecting high-quality specimens while assisting the Laboratory Department with daily administrative and operational needs. The Phlebotomist / Laboratory Assistant plays an important role in providing excellent patient care by collecting high-quality specimens while assisting the Laboratory Department with daily administrative and operational needs. The successful candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with laboratory and clinical staff. Responsibilities Include: Perform accurate and efficient phlebotomy services, including collecting, labeling, and processing blood specimens according to established procedures. Obtain and process other patient specimens including urine, stool, sputum, and other body fluids. Provide excellent customer service by assisting and directing patients throughout the hospital and clinic. Perform limited laboratory testing, including: Dipstick urinalysis Urine microalbumin testing Strep A testing H. pylori testing Influenza testing Urine pregnancy testing Urine drug screens Perform quality control checks on waived testing according to manufacturer recommendations and laboratory standards. Assist with laboratory records management, including organizing and maintaining: Monthly and yearly laboratory records Urinalysis records Waived testing documentation Hemoccult records Maintain and update the EKG data bank and patient logs. Order, receive, and maintain preliminary and final reports from reference laboratories. Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, and organization of laboratory supplies. Support laboratory registration processes, including: Validating tests for Medicare patients Obtaining additional information for non-covered services Explaining and issuing Advance Beneficiary Notices (ABNs) when needed Distribute laboratory reports as needed through fax or electronic systems. Utilize hospital and clinic computer systems for documentation, scheduling, communication, and record management. Perform general office duties including filing, scanning, faxing, copying, and retrieving medical records.
