POSITION: Community Pre-Vocational Specialist

PROGRAM: Community Pre-Vocational

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Community Pre-Vocational staff is responsible for supporting individuals with disabilities to maximize their vocational skills within their community. To empower independence through proactive training and practical experiences while involved in integrated activities and volunteerism in community. The staff will employ a variety of diverse skill instruction and training to teach the individuals the soft skills required to be able to secure and maintain employment.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Network with community resources to build individualized vocational experiences
• Provide job readiness and soft skills training in group settings
• Responsible for supervising a group of 8 Community Base Pre-Vocational individuals as they
• participate in volunteer opportunities
• Incorporate life skills, job skills, and travel skills during group and volunteer activities, while
• facilitating community integration
• Responsible for the completion of daily checklists, monthly summary notes, and semi-annual
• and annual habilitation plans.
• Utilize intervention techniques including hands-on techniques, task analysis, reasonable accommodation modifications, and other strategies designed for enhancing prevocational skills
• Ensure a person-centered approach is used in all aspects of service delivery
• Maintain professional relationship with consumers, co-workers and representative from other agencies
• Complete required documentation.
• Participate in staff meetings and communities as assigned.
• Participate in all training as assigned by Supervisor or Program Director.
• Provides annual and semi-annual progress reports regarding valued outcomes.
• Supervises consumers in the community, using various experiences to reinforce skills being taught in-group session while ensuring their safety.
• Responsible for all scheduling of community activities to promote community integration.
• Report all incidents in a timely fashion.

PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT:

• Serve as role model for all Agency staff promoting the Agency?s Mission, Vision and Values.
• Foster Agency and program wide cooperation and teamwork through use of positive/ constructive communication techniques.
• Maintain confidentiality in regards to all people supported and personnel records.
