We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join a growing oil and gas organization in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for a hands-on accounting specialist who is comfortable working in a lean office environment and taking ownership of daily financial operations. The role will support accounting activities across a large portfolio of managed wells while helping maintain accurate records, reporting, and close processes.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee day-to-day accounting activities in a small team setting, handling both routine transactions and higher-level financial oversight.
• Prepare and post journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and ensure balances are recorded accurately and on time.
• Manage accounts payable processes and support timely payment activities while maintaining proper documentation and controls.
• Complete account reconciliations, trial balance reviews, and month-end close tasks to support reliable financial reporting.
• Assist with joint interest billing and related oil and gas accounting functions tied to a large portfolio of operated assets.
• Monitor cash activity and help maintain visibility into daily cash management needs and account movements.
• Support audit preparation and provide organized financial records, schedules, and explanations as needed.
• Work independently to identify issues, resolve discrepancies, and keep accounting operations moving efficiently in a hands-on environment.
• Partner with team members during the onboarding and knowledge-transfer period to ensure continuity of accounting processes and responsibilities.• Prior accounting leadership or senior-level accounting experience, preferably in an Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant capacity.
• Direct oil and gas industry experience is required.
• Strong working knowledge of month-end close, general ledger accounting, and journal entry preparation.
• Experience with account reconciliations, trial balances, and day-to-day transactional accounting responsibilities.
• Familiarity with joint interest billing (JIB) and cash management activities.
• Ability to work effectively in a small office environment where a high level of ownership is expected.
• Independent problem-solving skills with the confidence to make sound accounting decisions.
• Experience supporting audits and preparing accurate financial schedules and documentation.
