Murphy Maritime Marine Construction Project Manager Position Overview The Marine Construction Project Manager (PM) at Murphy Maritime is the primary owner of project delivery from contract execution through final closeout. This role bridges planning, compliance, field execution, and client communication to ensure marine construction projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full regulatory compliance. Projects typically include fixed and floating docks, double-slip systems, gangways, piles, shoreline structures, and associated over-water construction in regulated freshwater environments. The PM operates as the central coordination and decision-making role , working closely with the Marine Construction Superintendent, Compliance Specialist, fabrication partners, and clients. Core Responsibilities Project Leadership & Delivery Lead marine construction projects from award through completion and closeout Establish project scope, execution strategy, schedule, and logistics plans Coordinate sequencing of fabrication, mobilization, barge operations, and installation Anticipate and manage risks related to weather, water levels, access, and permitting constraints Ensure projects align with Murphy Maritime quality standards and operational best practices Schedule, Budget & Risk Control Develop and maintain realistic project schedules and milestones Prepare and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, and change management Track labor, materials, equipment usage, and subcontractor performance Identify efficiencies and risk mitigation strategies without compromising safety or compliance Regulatory & Compliance Coordination Ensure full compliance with applicable regulations including IDAPA, Idaho Department of Lands (IDL), USACE, and local shoreline requirements Coordinate closely with Murphy Maritime Compliance Specialists on permits, conditions, and inspections Understand littoral rights, OHWM/OLWM references, and encroachment requirements Maintain accurate, defensible project documentation throughout the project lifecycle Field & Superintendent Coordination Work in direct partnership with the Marine Construction Superintendent to execute field operations Support daily planning, crew sequencing, equipment allocation, and site logistics Resolve field challenges related to constructability, access, or design interpretation Provide operational support without micromanaging field leadership Safety Leadership Enforce Murphy Maritime safety standards and marine construction best practices Support safety planning, toolbox talks, and hazard mitigation specific to over-water work Ensure compliance with OSHA, marine safety requirements, and company policies Participate in incident review and corrective action implementation Client & Stakeholder Communication Serve as the primary client point of contact throughout the project Provide clear updates on schedule, progress, risks, and changes Manage expectations professionally and proactively Represent Murphy Maritime with credibility, clarity, and accountability Documentation & Project Controls Oversee project documentation including schedules, daily reports, RFIs, submittals, and change orders Review construction drawings, bathymetry, and site data for constructability Coordinate as-built documentation and project closeout packages Ensure records meet both operational and regulatory scrutiny standards Required Qualifications 5+ years of project management experience in marine, heavy civil, or waterfront construction Strong understanding of dock systems, over-water construction methods, and marine access logistics Experience coordinating barges, cranes, and marine equipment Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, budgets, and subcontractors Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications Strong organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills Preferred Qualifications Direct experience with docks, piers, floating systems, or shoreline structures Familiarity with Idaho or Pacific Northwest regulatory environments Experience working with compliance-driven construction projects Proficiency with project management and scheduling software Work Environment Combination of office-based project management and field/site presence Regular interaction with marine environments, barges, and active construction sites Seasonal workload fluctuations tied to permitting windows and water conditions Core Murphy Maritime Competencies Strategic thinking and risk analysis Regulatory awareness and discipline Operational efficiency and accountability Clear, professional communication Respect for craftsmanship, safety, and environmental stewardship Benefit and Compensation Competitive Salary - $75,000 year + incentive Medical, Dental and Vision 401(k) Paid Time Off #J-18808-Ljbffr
