Tenure Associate Professor

Job Title Tenure or Tenure‑track Faculty – Surgery, Division of Acute Care Surgery (ACS), Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) Salary Minimum academic base salary $164,605, eligible for faculty practice. Final offer may vary based on qualifications and available funding. Conduct clinically active work within the ACS division. Teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses and supervise trainees. Engage in collaborative research and serve on research study sections as a reviewer. Run a laboratory or clinical research team and mentor junior investigators. Secure and manage grant funding, with an expectation of R01‑level support by the beginning of the fourth year. Qualifications MD or DO degree (or equivalent) with board certifications appropriate to career stage. Postdoctoral research training and completion of institutional research training award (e.g., F32, T32, K12, or KL2). Master’s level training or higher in one or more relevant clinical research disciplines. Research focus on clinical epidemiology within one or more ACS content areas. Strong track record of peer‑reviewed first‑author original research articles. Current individual K‑award (K01, K08, or K23), R01, or comparable funding. NIH Loan Repayment Program awardee, pending R01 applications, and/or evidence of readiness to become an R01‑funded principal investigator. Participation in NIH study section as a grant reviewer. Certifications / Licenses Board certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery & Surgical Critical Care. NJ licensed or eligible for licensure in NJ. Completion of a two‑year acute‑care surgery fellowship with experience in performance/quality improvement. Clinical expertise in trauma, surgical critical care, and emergency general surgery. Academic Appointments Primary faculty appointment in the ACS Division; eligibility for secondary appointments in other schools (e.g., Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, New Jersey Medical School, School of Graduate Studies, School of Public Health) and related centers or institutes.
