Job Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description

The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs process machinery and plant equipment to ensure reliable and safe operation in a manufacturing environment. This role performs complete job changes, including mold changes and setups on production equipment, and works with a wide range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and process systems. The position requires strong technical skills, the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics, and the judgment to work independently while collaborating closely with plant engineering and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all process machinery and plant equipment in proper operating condition to support continuous production.
• Perform complete job changes on production equipment, including mold changes and setups, ensuring accurate and efficient configuration for new runs.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to diagnose issues, plan repairs, and execute installations.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and service injection molding presses, molds, grinders, pumps, motors, blenders, compressors, boilers, lighting and electrical systems, conveying systems, robots, automatic handling equipment, assembly machinery, and other specialized equipment and systems.
• Install, maintain, and repair process piping, valves, timers, thermocouples, fittings, gauges, solenoids, switches, and all types of hydraulic, pneumatic, steam, and air systems.
• Set up, remove, inspect, and maintain molds of varying sizes and complexity in automatic and semi-automatic presses so that molds and presses are ready for production.
• Perform insert changes, disassemble, clean, and reassemble molds according to production and quality requirements.
• Install and remove auxiliary equipment such as insert loaders, material dryers, shrink fixtures, hot stamp machines, conveyors, sprue separators, and test equipment to support production processes.
• Lubricate machines and equipment and carry out routine preventive and corrective maintenance tasks across the plant.
• Develop, update, and maintain blueprints and technical documentation related to machinery and equipment.
• Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory for various machines and equipment to minimize downtime.
• Instruct, direct, and train other employees in proper equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safety practices as needed.
• Consult and work closely with plant engineering and management to resolve complex issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Recognize when additional expertise or resources are needed and proactively seek appropriate assistance to ensure safe and effective resolution of problems.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical maintenance skills, including troubleshooting and repair of production machinery and plant equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical and mechanical schematics accurately.
• Hands-on experience working with injection molding equipment and related systems, or similar complex industrial machinery.
• Proficiency in basic electrical maintenance tasks related to motors, controls, and plant electrical systems.
• Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, steam, and air systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, using a high degree of initiative and sound judgment.
• Ability to think critically and solve problems on the spot in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment safety and reliability.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience maintaining injection molding presses and Cincinnati Milacron Injection Mold Machines.
• Background working with robots and automatic handling equipment in a production environment.
• Familiarity with conveying systems, assembly machinery, and other specialized manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to develop, update, and maintain technical documentation and blueprints for machinery and systems.
• Experience training and mentoring other employees on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
• Comfort working within a unionized environment and collaborating with various departments and teams.

Work Environment

This role is based in a traditional manufacturing facility featuring Cincinnati Milacron Injection Mold Machines and a variety of production and support equipment. The environment is non–temperature controlled, so it can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter, and conditions may be oily and dusty at times due to the nature of the processes. Automated forklifts operate throughout the facility, requiring strong situational awareness and adherence to safety protocols. The position is within a union setting, and employees should be comfortable working according to established union practices and expectations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55120.00 - $55120.00/yr.
