The Role:We are seeking a senior‑level, hands‑on CAD automation engineer to own and drive the design automation infrastructure that powers Cirrus Logic’s design teams. In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping how designs get built—creating and evolving scalable, production‑ready automation solutions that boost productivity, streamline data management, and enforce consistent, reliable design flows.You’ll collaborate closely with design engineers, CAD teams, and EDA vendors to architect robust automation frameworks, simplify project bring‑up, and enable smooth, efficient execution of complex design flows across multiple programs. If you enjoy combining software, methodology, and close collaboration to accelerate silicon development, this role gives you the platform—and ownership—to make a lasting impact.What You’ll Own & CreateThis isn’t a maintenance job—this is where you architect smarter workflows, champion new design methodologies, and elevate how an entire organization designs silicon.You will:Own and develop CAD automation infrastructure and workflowsDesign and implement Python-based automation tools for design flows and data processingStandardize and automate project setup, directory structures, and environment configurationImprove design productivity through automation of repetitive tasks and workflowsSupport design teams with tool usage, automation, and workflow optimizationIntegrate and customize EDA tools to support design requirementsCollaborate with design teams to identify automation opportunities and implement solutionsDevelop and maintain regression and validation frameworks for flows and toolsManage design data, revision control, and release processesWork with IT on infrastructure to enable scalable job execution and resource utilizationInterface with EDA vendors to resolve tool issues and drive longer-term automation andmethodology improvementsYou won’t just support design—you’ll amplify it. Your tools will accelerate silicon development, unlock new capabilities, streamline workflows, and enable Cirrus Logic engineers to do their best work at scale.Skills You’ll Bring to the Team Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, with 7+ years of experience in CAD, design automation, or EDA tools development in a production environmentStrong Python programming skills, with a proven track record of building, maintaining, and scaling production‑quality automation toolsHands‑on experience with design automation and scripting in semiconductor design environmentsExperience using revision control systems such as Git or Perforce to support collaborative, disciplined developmentFluency in Linux and command‑line environments, including scripting, debugging, and automationSolid understanding of IC design flows and EDA tools, and how automation enables efficient execution at scaleExperience with project setup, environment configuration, and flow deployment across multiple designsStrong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to independently debug complex workflow, tooling, and infrastructure issuesClear communication skills and the ability to work effectively across design, CAD, IT, and vendor teamsPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and ExperienceMaster’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, with 7+ years of experience supporting design CAD or EDA toolsExperience working with SKILL, Tcl, and/or shell scripting, especially in EDA flow customizationHands‑on experience with the Cadence design environment and associated analog and digital design toolsFamiliarity with job scheduling and compute management systems such as LSF or equivalentExperience with data processing, reporting, and visualization, enabling insight into flow performance and design metricsBackground in building regression frameworks and automated validation systems to ensure flow quality and stabilityFamiliarity with PDKs, design databases, data formats, and tapeout flowsExperience supporting analog or mixed‑signal design teams, with an understanding of their unique workflow needsBenefits That Put You FirstAt Cirrus Logic, we’re deeply committed to the health, happiness, and long‑term well‑being of our employees and their families.
