Biometrics (Fingerprint) Technician - On Call

Job Overview Position: Biometric Technician (BT) – Casual On‑Call at United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) Application Support Center (ASC) in Glenmont, MD. Work Schedule On‑Call (casual) team member. Available Monday‑Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. for substitute coverage as needed. Hours are not guaranteed; work occurs on an “as needed” basis. Key Responsibilities Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States. Ensure all entrants to the ASC are approved applicants and visitors, providing interior and exterior crowd control and assisting staff in enforcing ASC rules and policies. Provide front‑line customer service as representatives of Amentum and on behalf of the United States Government. Deliver the highest level of customer service, working with the public in a cheerful and inviting manner, managing applicants with sensitivity, courtesy, and respect. Safeguard all areas where Personal Identifiable Information (PII) is vulnerable, including applicant paperwork, identification, electronic biometric data, and reports. Perform quality biometrics processing: capture electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within established processing times. Screen applicants for valid appointment notices and identification before entry. Utilize crowd control barriers (stanchions or rails) to ensure a safe and organized entry. Visually inspect applicants and their belongings prior to allowing entry. During national pandemics or other health crises, ask health status questions and decline entry per customer requirements if necessary. Conduct periodic facility checks (interior and exterior) and report concerns to the Site Supervisor. Assist the Site Supervisor and/or Government Immigration Service Officer in calling local law enforcement or first responders when necessary. Manage and complete administrative paperwork: track processing time for applicants, reconcile biometric capture records, maintain a visitor control log for non‑applicants, sign off facility checks, and perform other administrative duties as needed. Required Qualifications U.S. Citizenship – required for facility credentials and authorization. High School Diploma or equivalent. Proficient in speaking and writing English. Ability to stand upright on one’s feet for scheduled shift duration, excluding meals and breaks. Ability to hold and grasp applicant’s hands to obtain quality fingerprints. Ability to work in a high‑paced environment with the public. Basic computer skills and typing ability. Successful completion of biometrics training and certification within sixty days. Desired Skills Ability to speak a foreign language. Compensation Hourly rate: $21.96. Actual compensation may vary based on job responsibilities, experience, and other factors.
