Fund Operations / Controller
Our client is a technology-focused investment firm managing approximately $1 billion in assets across public and private markets, including a public hedge fund strategy and venture investments.
The firm operates with a lean, highly collaborative team and is seeking a Fund Operations / Controller to work closely with senior management. This is a broad, hands-on role offering significant exposure across fund operations, accounting, and the overall infrastructure of the firm.
***This role is hybrid in New York City (Manhattan), 3 days/week onsite***
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day fund operations, with a primary focus on the firm's public markets strategy
- Oversee trade reconciliation, cash and position reconciliation, and related operational processes
- Serve as a key point of contact with prime brokers, fund administrators, and other third-party service providers
- Partner with the fund administrator on investor account statements, subscription documentation, and other fund-related reporting
- Support accounting, financial reporting, and fund-level processes across both public and private investments
- Assist with compliance-related responsibilities and coordinate with external compliance providers as needed
- Help identify opportunities to modernize and improve the firm's operational infrastructure, systems, and processes
- Work closely with senior management on a variety of operational, financial, and strategic initiatives
Ideal Candidate
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in fund operations, fund accounting, or a similar finance/operations role
- Experience working within a hedge fund, investment manager, fund administrator, or similar platform
- Strong understanding of public markets operations, including trade reconciliation and interaction with prime brokers
- Familiarity with private market investments is highly desirable
- Experience working with fund administrators and other external service providers
- Exposure to compliance is a plus
- Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment
- Ability to take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities while working closely with senior leadership
