Assistant Project Manager

In business since 2013, Five Star Painting of Marietta is seeking to hire a committed Assistant Project Manager to help us deliver exceptional service and results to our valued customers. This position would be ideal for a crew lead or foreman who is interested in moving to the next level in their career and learning the business side of the painting industry. What We’re Looking For: Minimum 3+ years of experience in painting, with expertise in interior and exterior painting (such as paint a bedroom, stain a deck or front porch steps) At least 2+ years of carpentry work (interior and exterior) 1+ year drywall experience (able to handle taping, mudding, sanding, and patching; attention to detail is key) Proven ability to perform punch lists tasks Strong attention to detail - spotting imperfections, ensuring smooth finishes, and finding and correcting drips and runs Ability to evaluate and create a "paintable surface" - smooth, seamless, no visible lines Basic understanding of flooring and tile installation is a plus Handyman skills (install door hardware, hinges, flooring) preferred Ability to read and follow work orders, and communicate professionally with customers via email and text Willingness to learn and adapt to new technology (work on a smart phone to use company CRM, Job Nimbus) Ability to operate boom and scissors lifts safely, preferred Key Responsibilities: Report to Lead Project Manager throughout each day Perform and oversee punch lists, often directly managing or even doing repairs Lead and coordinate crews, ensuring projects are completed correctly and efficiently as needed Assist with complicated repairs, drywall patches, and touch‑ups as needed Ensure all work meets PCA standards and client expectations Manage project timelines Communicate clearly with clients, handling change orders and scheduling Maintain job files and documentationUphold safety standards, operating equipment responsibly Provide exceptional customer service, collect payments and request/receive reviews Qualifications & Skills: HS Diploma or GED required Proficient reader, writer, and effective communicator via verbal and written communication Valid driver’s license with reliable vehicle Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work safely on ladders and with power tools Basic tech aptitude; willingness to learn new systems Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evening or weekend What’s in It for You? $30 / hour Healthcare stipend Car and gas allowance Seven paid holidays, paid week off between Christmas and New Year’s, and an additional week of PTO Flexibility – Early Fridays off occasionally (may have to take care of something on a Saturday morning after 5 o’clock at times.)
