Primary responsibility is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Open and/or close the store as scheduled. Act as Manager on Duty in the absence of management staff, directing the store team and adhering to company policies and procedures related to store operations, merchandise receipt, opening and closing processes, cash register transactions, daily cash reconciliation, and inventory control. Resolve and/or report any issues during the shift, including employee, customer, and product issues. Enforce safety policies and procedures and serve as a safety role model. Help unload incoming trucks and put away merchandise; maintain the assigned department by keeping it clean, organized, and fully stocked. Execute daily operational goals and priorities assigned by store management with a sense of urgency while paying attention to detail. Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team, actively participating in daily huddle meetings and sharing ideas for improvement with management. Remove promotional bin tags from displays and price tags as required following sales events and flyers. Restock merchandise displays, and watch end caps and side wings. Handle special orders for all non‑stock items, consulting with a floor manager, assistant manager, or store manager before denying a customer request. Watch for shoplifters and take action in line with company policy to discourage shoplifting. Provide the best possible experience for every customer by being helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. When not assisting a customer or cleaning, remain in a main aisle to observe customers entering all departments, walking up and down to ensure assistance is provided and avoiding personal conversations with co‑workers on the floor. Serve customers in assigned departments, or storewide, and greet them promptly. Demonstrate the S.A.L.E.S. process. Actively participate in store communication and initiatives such as the communication board, daily huddle, and store contests. Assist customers with simple complaints or concerns, involving a manager when necessary. Use the Five Foot Rule: greet and acknowledge all customers within five feet of you at all times. Always be polite and attentive to customers, making eye contact and smiling without avoiding them. Promote the Ace Rewards program, describe the Ace Helpful Promise(s), and use the Magic Question. Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements to inform customers about special sales. Always wear a radio and headset to communicate effectively with other associates or management. Respond to Customer Coordinator questions as needed. Assist customers with large or heavy items as needed. Offer customers a red basket for their shopping use. Assist in the training and development of peers. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred. Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of retail experience. Technically proficient in computer systems including related software. Ability to gather and analyze data and maintain accurate records. Take initiative, assume responsibility, and execute tasks thoroughly. Interact with staff at all levels of the organization. Possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record according to company insurance standards. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift 60 lbs or more.
