Library Services Librarian

Provides professional library services with emphasis on reference and instruction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Management may direct employees to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

1. Provides professional library services to students, faculty and staff.
2. Provides library instruction to students and faculty through individual consultations and classroom presentations.
3. Participates in embedded librarian program as needed.
4. Participates in developing informational and instructional materials related to library services and resources. Helps develop content for the library website and digital services.
5. Participates in library collection management and resource sharing, including cataloging and interlibrary loans.
6. Works with library employees to plan, develop, and create displays and programs for the campus library.
7. Assists with circulation desk operations.
8. Assists with library outreach to full-time and adjunct faculty.
9. Serves on committees and participates in College initiatives as needed.
10. Participates in professional activities, ongoing continuing education, and maintains familiarity with theory, practices, and trends in academic libraries.
11. Collaborate with Audiovisual Technicians as needed to provide AV supports.
12. Assists with coordination and work of employees in absence of the supervisor.
13. May be required to work a flexible schedule, potentially including evening and/or weekend hours.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree in Library and/or Information Science from an American Library Association accredited institution.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Ability to provide library instruction, reference support, and research support to students, faculty, staff, and the general public in both a physical and an online environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, faculty, and members of the public.
• Experience with using library technologies and software.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a welcoming, student-focused institution.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task, and problem-solve effectively.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Professional librarian experience in an academic library.
