Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Process Piping Project Engineer in Thousand Oaks, CA to support and help execute a major process piping project from procurement through turnover and closeout.
Impact
- Contribute directly to the on-time, on-budget delivery of a large-scale process piping project in Thousand Oaks.
- Serve as the coordination link between field crews, project managers, vendors, and subcontractors across piping, plumbing, and mechanical scopes.
- Strengthen project financial performance through disciplined procurement tracking, labor monitoring, and billing support.
- Build a documentation record that supports commissioning, qualification, and a clean project closeout.
Responsibilities
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and procurement logs from initiation through resolution.
- Perform material takeoffs and solicit vendor and subcontractor quotes to support buyout.
- Interpret P&IDs, isometrics, and specifications to monitor field progress and resolve installation questions.
- Support subcontractor buyout and track material deliveries against the project schedule.
- Participate in BIM coordination sessions and flag constructability issues early.
- Track labor hours and support the project manager with owner billings and cost reporting.
- Compile weld logs, turnover packages, and closeout documentation to support commissioning activities.
Requirements
Must-Haves
- Project engineering or field engineering experience in process piping or commercial plumbing construction.
- Hands-on exposure to RFIs, submittals, change orders, and procurement logs on a contractor project team.
- Ability to read P&IDs, isometrics, and piping specifications.
- Local to the Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, or broader Ventura County area.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience on high-purity, clean utility, medical gas, or industrial process piping scopes.
- Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or a scheduling tool such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
