Store Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt Location: Newton, IL The Opportunity Sloan Implement is a privately owned, family-run John Deere dealership, and we run our stores the way a family business should: simply. No layers of corporate bureaucracy, no red tape, no committees to sign off on decisions. When you're the Store Manager at Sloan, you're the boss. You run your location. We're looking for someone who wants that kind of ownership — a leader who loves to sell, isn't afraid to lead from the front, and wants to build something real in their community. What You'll Do Sell. This is job one. You'll be out selling yourself, Sloan Implement, and John Deere equipment every single day — building relationships with customers, closing deals, and setting the tone for a sales-first culture at your store. Lead the location. You're the final word at your store. You'll set the pace, run the meetings, make the calls, and be accountable for the results — without someone looking over your shoulder second-guessing every move. Keep an eye on the numbers. You'll own the store's overall financial performance — watching costs, hitting budget targets, and making sure the business runs profitably. Support strong department managers. Your Service Manager and Parts Manager run their departments — that's their job, and we trust them to do it. Your role is to keep them aligned with the store's goals, help them succeed, and step in when needed, not micromanage their day-to-day. Take care of your customers. Build relationships that last, and personally step in when a customer issue needs your attention. Represent Sloan Implement. Maintain a strong relationship with John Deere, keep your facility running well and looking sharp, and represent the dealership well in your community. Build your team. Have a real voice in hiring, coaching, and developing the people at your store. What We're Looking For 3+ years of sales experience in agriculture or a related industry Management or leadership experience preferred, but we'll consider the right person without it Familiarity with John Deere or competitive ag equipment is a plus A natural leader who can motivate people and hold a team accountable Comfortable with financial basics — budgets, cost control, and reading the numbers Strong communicator who can handle a tough customer conversation and come out the other side with a happy customer A valid, clean driving record; must pass a drug screen and background check, and maintain a good driving record throughout employment Why Sloan Implement Paid holidays and vacation time Health, vision, and dental insurance Life insurance 401(k) with company match Routine performance and pay reviews Flexible Spending Account (FSA) All benefits subject to change. Working Hours: In Season Hours: Monday-Friday 7am-5pm, Saturday 7am-12pm OR 7am-3pm (rotation determined by store) Off Season/Winter Hours: Monday-Friday 7am-5pm *In Season Hours may be extended (including Sundays) during peak seasons (planting, harvest, or any other peak selling season) to meet the needs of the store. Extended Hours are determined by the needs store and subject to change. * *Off Season Hours are from November-March.
