Recreation Attendant Guest Services

Performs a variety of customer service, recreation program, facility operations, and safety duties to support the daily operation of recreation facilities and programs within the City of Aspen Recreation Department. Provides assistance to patrons, supports programs and events, operates point-of-sale systems, and helps maintain a safe, welcoming, and positive environment in support of the organization's values and mission statement.

Supports recreation programs, activities, events, and facility operations as assigned. Greets and assists visitors and provides friendly, professional customer service. Answers phones, provides information about programs and facilities, and responds to customer questions and feedback. Operates point-of-sale systems and assists with merchandise, retail and pass membership sales. Builds and manages patron recreation accounts within recreation software.

Assists with daily operations at the Aspen Recreation Center, Red Brick Recreation Center, and other recreation facilities as assigned. Helps with facility openings, closings, events, rentals, setups, and takedowns. Follows established safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identifies and reports safety concerns and assists with incident or accident documentation as needed. Understands and follows Emergency Action Plan (EAP) procedures and responds appropriately during incidents. Maintains a clean and orderly front desk and lobby area.

Assists recreation staff with program preparation, equipment needs, and activity support. Helps monitor public areas and activities to promote a safe and positive experience for patrons. Assists with stocking, organizing, and maintaining retail and program-related inventory as directed. Performs other related duties and special projects on an as needed basis.

Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least fifteen (15) years of age at the time of hiring. At least six (6) months of guest service or customer service experience. One (1) or more year(s) is preferred. Must possess or obtain current CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire. Paid training will be provided at no cost to candidates who are not already certified.

This position requires a Criminal Background Check upon hire. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Criminal Background Check. Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required abilities, knowledge, and skills as determined by the City of Aspen may be substituted for the requirements listed.

Intermittent (less than 29 hours per week), hours vary depending on facility needs, weekday versus weekend operational hours, scheduled programs, and staff availability. Evenings/Weekends: May be required, including coverage for special events, swim meets, or rentals outside standard operating hours.

Indoors: Work is primarily performed in and around recreation facilities, including the Aspen Recreation Center, Red Brick Recreation Center, and other City recreation facilities. Exposure to varying levels of noise, frequent interaction with the public, and a fast-paced environment. Work may involve standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended periods. Outdoors/Off-Site: Meetings, trainings, and site visits at a variety of city facilities and areas.
