Director of Operations

Position Title: Director of OperationsReports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)SALARY: $70,000-75,000FSLA: ExemptGeneral Responsibility: The Director of Operations provides strategic leadership and oversight for agency operations, technology, facilities, safety and security, contracts and vendors, projects, risk management, and operational infrastructure. Working closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, the Director turns agency priorities into reliable systems, efficient processes, and practical improvements that support departments, organizational change, and long-term sustainability.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:Organizational Operations, Projects & Department SupportPartner with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to implement agency goals, priorities, operational policies, procedures, and process improvements.Oversee operational systems and workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, accountability, and effectiveness across departments.Develop and monitor budgets for operations, technology, facilities, and related support services.Lead agency-wide operational projects from planning through completion, including timelines, responsibilities, resources, budgets, progress, and implementation.Support organizational growth, modernization, relocations, transitions, and other change initiatives; identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions.Provide operational leadership to departments experiencing staffing shortages, transitions, growth, or other challenges, including support with workflows, communication, accountability systems, structure, and continuity planning.Information Technology, Systems & Technology AssetsOversee agency technology systems, IT support services, software licensing, telecommunications, and related infrastructure in partnership with internal staff and external vendors.Manage technology assets and inventory, including lifecycle planning, deployment, replacement, accountability, disposal, and related documentation.Coordinate agency-wide IT support processes, including help desk services, equipment deployment, technology onboarding/offboarding, systems access, and vendor escalation.Work with IT vendors and agency leadership on system functionality, continuity of operations, cybersecurity awareness, systems integration, technology planning, and future needs.Facilities, Safety, Risk, Contracts & VendorsOversee facilities, maintenance, janitorial services, repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, utilities, accessibility, and physical security across all NKCAC sites.Coordinate security systems and protocols, including access control, alarms, keys, and cameras, and maintain required facility, fire, health, safety, and building documentation.Manage facility needs, renovations, relocations, expansions, leases, landlord responsibilities, renewal dates, and lease negotiations/renewals with executive leadership as assigned.Develop and manage RFPs and oversee bids, vendor contracts, service and maintenance agreements, and operational purchasing in coordination with executive and finance leadership and agency procurement policies.Maintain relationships with vendors, landlords, contractors, and service providers and monitor performance, service levels, renewals, costs, and implementation activities.Identify operational risks related to facilities, technology, security, vendors, and business operations; coordinate emergency preparedness, incident/crisis response, business continuity, safety, insurance-related operational matters, and risk mitigation.Support compliance activities, monitoring preparation, operational readiness, and corrective action planning related to operational functions.Executive & Leadership SupportProvide high-level operational and administrative support to the CEO and support implementation of CEO initiatives and agency priorities.Serve as a liaison among executive leadership, staff, Board members, and external partners on operational matters.Participate as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and promote strong communication and collaboration across departments.Maintain confidentiality of employee, agency, client, and operational information and perform additional duties as assigned by the CEO.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership, Operations Management, Information Systems, or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in operations, administration, project management, organizational systems, technology coordination, facilities management, or related areas.Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional organizational initiatives and coordinating multiple operational functions.Experience overseeing facilities, technology vendors or IT services, contracts, leases, security systems, and/or technology assets preferred.Experience supervising staff, contractors, or vendors and coordinating work across multiple locations preferred.Experience supporting executive leadership and Board governance activities preferred.Strong operational problem-solving, strategic thinking, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment.Advanced computer skills and ability to learn specialized databases, operational systems, and technology platforms.Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people and stakeholders.Valid driver’s license, vehicle, current automobile insurance, and ability to travel between agency locations as required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.Ability to travel between agency locations and move throughout facilities as needed.Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.Ability to inspect facilities, equipment, and operational spaces as required.*NKCAC is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
