Payroll Specialist

Payroll Specialist Construction company headquartered in Brea is looking for a Payroll Specialist for a long term consulting project for eight to nine months. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for administering and processing payroll and employee benefits for both field (union) and office personnel within a construction environment. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, maintains compliance with company policies and labor regulations, and supports the administration of employee benefit programs including health insurance, 401(k), retirement plans, and related payroll deductions. The Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining payroll accuracy, employee records, and compliance while supporting efficient payroll across the organization. In a construction environment, the Payroll Specialist requires strong communication skills to effectively support, guide and help a diverse workforce. Key Responsibilities Process weekly payroll for field and office employees, union and non-union. Processing weekly certified payroll for prevailing wage projects Review and verify timesheets, hours worked, overtime, deductions, and payroll adjustments Maintain accurate payroll records and employee payroll data Coordinate payroll information with Project Managers, Supervisors, and field personnel Payroll deductions and benefit enrollments Process employee status changes including New hires, Terminations, Compensation updates and benefit changes Process quarterly taxes Support employee onboarding related to payroll and benefits documentation Maintain compliance with federal, state, and company payroll regulations and procedures Prepare payroll-related reports, reconciliations, and audit documentation Assist with year-end payroll activities including W-2 processing and reporting Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll and benefits information Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred 35 years of payroll administration experience Experience processing payroll in a construction type of industry Union payroll experience is required. Knowledge of payroll regulations, tax withholdings, and benefits administration Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite Pay $30.00- $36.00 per hour Compensation based on experience, education, and certifications #J-18808-Ljbffr
