We collaborate and give our best to create meaningful change.Join our Energy and Power business unit as a Design Manager, where we leverage our solutions across various markets to foster a more connected and sustainable world, both environmentally and socially. Role SummaryBy joining our team, you’ll have the opportunity to deploy your design management/project management skills to manage technical staff in developing innovative solutions that solve our clients’ challenging electric transmission and distribution needs. In this role you will collaborate across engineering disciplines to support a diverse international, multi-sector client group. You will manage internal Jacobs teams as well as external subconsultants and contractors. The specific projects you will be assigned will typically include electric substations, transmission & distribution services – both underground and overhead.This position provides the opportunity to engage with our clients, develop holistic concept-level plans and solutions, then take these through detailed design to provide for full execution of the solution. We offer and deliver a true “end to end” life-cycle service from needs assessment and planning to startup and commissioning. Demonstrated abilities include a broad understanding of construction of underground and overhead electric utility infrastructure. Prior experience in consulting, design management and project management will be highly regarded. Your primary responsibilities will focus upon providing advisory and design solutions for transmission and distribution projects. You will collaborate with our technical leadership, client account managers and sales professionals on pursuits of strategic importance to the firm. You’ll be expected to possess highly collaborative and sophisticated communication and problem-solving skills. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated the ability to anticipate challenges and manage “up and out” while supporting large teams responsible for the daily details of project delivery. Here's what you'll need
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.Professional Engineer license in state(s) within the Western Region of the US.Minimum of 10 years demonstrated professional experience as a Project Engineer, Design Manager, or Project Manager responsible for execution of transmission and/or distribution related projects.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions and pivot quickly as required to meet our client’s business objectives.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present project status information clearly and concisely to various stakeholders.High level of attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation and reporting.Experience working for Engineering, Design Build or Construction/EPC firms. Knowledge of risk management and cost control techniques.Preferred Qualifications10+ years of demonstrated professional experience as a Design/Project Manager responsible for execution of electric transmission & distribution infrastructure projects.Experience in undergrounding projects within an urban environment.Our health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about.
