P2S is an award‑winning engineering firm. We have an open part‑time Time Keeping and Reconciliation Specialist position based in Long Beach, CA. Employment Type: Part-Time (3 days in office 8 hours) Schedule: Hybrid (in‑office and remote flexibility) Location: Long Beach, CA Hourly: $25-$35 per hour General Responsibilities Maintains knowledge of and responsibility for payroll, employee retirement, workers compensation, tax reporting, general ledger, and labor laws. Ensures payroll functions are carried out accurately and timely in accordance with legal requirements. Processes accurate and timely bi‑weekly payroll for exempt and non‑exempt employees. Prepares and processes payroll‑related documents, off‑cycle payrolls, final checks, and manual adjustments. Balances and reconciles payrolls, including garnishments and 401(k) administration. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax and wage‑hour regulations. Manages payroll tax filings, payments, and other required payroll reporting. Partners with Accounting on monthly payroll close and payroll audits. Serves as the primary point of contact for employee payroll and 401(k) questions. Identifies opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and system efficiencies. Acquires and applies in-depth knowledge of complex payroll and related system functions. Performs other payroll‑related duties and ad hoc projects as assigned. Position Requirements High school graduation; coursework in accounting or financial record‑keeping is desirable. Minimum 2+ years of payroll experience in a fast‑paced, multi‑state environment. Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws and wage‑hour regulations. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally. Proven ability to collaborate across HR and Accounting teams. Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and keyboarding; ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
