Truck Driver CDL - A (Local and Home Every Evening)

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle to transport lumber, building materials, and related products to customer locations
• Load and unload materials using forklifts, piggyback forklifts (Moffett), or by hand when necessary
• Secure loads properly using straps, chains, and tarps to prevent damage during transport
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance
• Maintain accurate delivery records, logs, and invoices
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, yard staff, and customers regarding delivery schedules
• Navigate local and regional routes efficiently and safely
• Adhere to DOT regulations and company safety policies at all times
• Assist in the yard with loading, organizing inventory, and general labor when deliveries are not scheduled
• Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and represent the company professionally
  

Qualifications

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Clean driving record with no major violations
• Minimum of [1–3] years of CDL driving experience preferred
• Experience with flatbed trucks and securing loads required
• Forklift or Moffett (piggyback forklift) experience preferred
• Ability to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background check
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards

• Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (50–100 lbs)
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions year-round
• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
• Ability to follow direction and work within company systems
  

Work Environment

• Outdoor lumber yard and job site environments
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, and noise
• Physical labor required, including lifting, bending, and climbing
  

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Typically Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime or weekend work as needed
