Field Support Representative

This role focuses on modifying and integrating armored vehicles with advanced equipment and system update technologies, with primary support to an anti-drone M-LIDS program and the broader defense portfolio as business needs evolve. The Field Support Representative serves as a subject matter expert during weapons testing and in-theater fielding, working closely with test officers to ensure high-quality completion of testing and integration activities. The position combines hands-on electromechanical work, technical troubleshooting, and field support at military bases, both within the United States and internationally, with significant travel and direct support to mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities:

• Modify and integrate existing armored vehicles with new equipment and system update technologies, primarily supporting the M-LIDS anti-drone program while remaining flexible to support other programs as needed.
• Serve as a subject matter expert during weapons testing events and later when equipment and systems are deployed to the field.
• Collaborate with test officers to ensure thorough and high-quality completion of weapons and systems testing in various environments.
• Test, modify, rework, repair, and build electronic, optical, and mechanical assemblies to meet program and engineering requirements.
• Work from standard wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications, and sketches to perform installations and modifications.
• Test prototype assemblies and production units to verify performance, reliability, and compliance with specifications.
• Modify existing vehicles in the field at various military bases within the United States (CONUS) and overseas (OCONUS) as required.
• Perform related manufacturing processes associated with vehicle and system integration, including mechanical and electrical tasks.
• Create, interpret, and follow documents such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety rules, and technical instructions.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory requirements in accordance with state and federal regulations and any relevant certifications.
• Interface with other departments to ensure efficient flow of information, materials, and technical feedback.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion.
• Provide direction to personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties when required.
• When not deployed in the field, work on vehicles in the shop environment, including building and updating SOPs for system-specific utilization.
• Participate in a series of three recurring training courses and complete them twice annually to maintain technical proficiency and compliance.
• Maintain a high level of customer service and interface professionally with military and internal stakeholders during field assignments.
• Support networked and IT-enabled systems as needed, particularly where they interface with electromechanical and vehicle-based equipment.

Essential Skills:

• Hands-on electromechanical assembly and technician experience, including repair and modification of complex systems.
• Experience in electrical installation, troubleshooting, and repair on vehicles or comparable platforms.
• Mechanical maintenance experience, including hydraulics and pneumatics, or similar mechanical systems.
• Field service or field support experience working on mechanical and electrical systems in operational environments.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, layout drawings, blueprints, schematics, and engineering specifications.
• Demonstrated ability to design and interpret blueprints and schematics for system modifications and integrations.
• Experience with tank maintenance, armored vehicles, or other land-based platforms, or equivalent heavy/light vehicle maintenance.
• Customer service or customer interface experience, with the ability to interact effectively with end users and stakeholders.
• Ability to create, interpret, and follow SOPs and safety rules, and to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Capability to perform related manufacturing processes associated with mechanical and electrical assemblies.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally between 50% and 100% of the time, including extended deployments.
• Electromechanical assembly or technician work experience is required and must be directly applicable to complex systems.
• Hold and maintain a security clearance.
• Experience directing or guiding personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties, as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Military experience in maintenance or repair of land-based vehicles such as tracked vehicles, heavy or light armored vehicles, or aircraft (fixed or rotary wing) is strongly preferred.
• Preferred military occupational specialties include 91S, 91M, 91H, 91B, 13F, or aviation electrical/mechanical-related specialties (especially those with 15).
• Any technical military training related to vehicle, aviation, or electromechanical maintenance is highly applicable, even if not on the exact platforms used.
• Network and IT systems experience is a plus, particularly where these systems integrate with vehicle-based or electromechanical equipment.
• An associate degree in automation technology or a similar technical discipline is preferred.
• Experience working on anti-drone, counter-UAV, or advanced sensor and weapon systems is beneficial but not required.
• Strong preference for candidates with an active security clearance or one held within the last 24 months, particularly at the secret level.
• Ability to work effectively in both shop and field environments, including remote and austere locations.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and electro-optical systems.
• Comfort working on mine-resistant, ambush-protected all-terrain vehicles (M-ATVs), Strykers, and similar military platforms, or willingness to learn.
• Strong documentation skills, including writing and updating SOPs and technical procedures.
• Adaptability to move into related roles over time, such as field service leadership or logistics engineering, depending on performance and interest.

Work Environment:

The primary program supported involves the M-LIDS counter-UAV system, which has been developed since 2017 to detect, track, and neutralize small unmanned aerial vehicles that pose threats to military forces. M-LIDS is mounted on two mine-resistant, ambush-protected all-terrain vehicles (M-ATVs): one platform carries elevated mast-mounted surveillance and battlefield reconnaissance equipment with advanced sensors, while the other hosts a reconfigurable weapon system capable of employing multiple types of machine guns. The system also incorporates a small UAV, creating a complex, integrated sensor and weapons environment. Field Support Representatives may also support additional programs such as anti-aircraft Stryker platforms and joint assault bridge systems, depending on business needs. The position is based in St. Louis, with extensive travelapproximately 50% to 100%to various military bases within the United States and, once converted to a permanent role, to overseas locations. Domestic travel includes assignments at multiple CONUS bases, while OCONUS deployments, typically around six months, may include locations such as Germany, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. International deployments generally occur after conversion to a permanent employee, and standard practice does not include coverage for accompanying family travel, though personal arrangements are permitted for longer-term assignments. Work is split between shop and field environments: in the shop, employees work on vehicles, build and refine SOPs, and complete recurring training; in the field, they operate in active military settings, often in outdoor or semi-sheltered conditions, performing installations, modifications, testing, and troubleshooting. The environment involves working around heavy vehicles, weapons systems, advanced sensors, and networked equipment, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards. Dress and personal protective equipment align with industrial and military field conditions, including appropriate workwear, safety gear, and, when required, mission-specific protective equipment.

Pay and Benefits:
