It also requires familiarity with specialized procedures, methods, and policies as designated. Candidates must communicate orally and in writing in both English and Spanish, translate basic documents, maintain routine records, follow instructions independently, and have typing and computer skills sufficient for clerical duties. Must be able to interpret and translate in Spanish, perform clerical activities, type accurately at a rate of 40 net words per minute, type letters, reports, case records, invoices, requisitions, and other materials, receive public inquiries, answer phones, take messages or refer callers, and establish cooperative relationships. MUST PASS THE DISTRICT'S BILINGUAL CERTIFICATION TEST IN ORAL, READING, AND WRITING PROFICIENCY IN SPANISH. Must be bilingual. No experience is required, although general clerical experience and work involving the supervision of students is desirable. Completion of twelfth grade is required, preferably supplemented by college-level courses. Certification of proficiency in basic writing proficiency in a second language and familiarity with a minority culture is required. Certification of district proficiency in basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills must be submitted with the application. A diploma from a public California high school after January 1, 1981 (G.E.D. does not fulfill the proficiency requirement). Proof of successful completion of the CBEST test, possession of a valid California teaching credential, and a recent five-minute typing certificate (must be less than two years old and not completed online) are required unless the applicant already holds a comparable typing speed certificate. Requirements A criminal history check will be required of successful candidates prior to employment. Duties of the Position Assist the school site ESL coordinator in all aspects of the program for Limited English Proficient students. Primary responsibilities include identification, primary language testing, reclassification testing, and associated records maintenance for LEP students. Provide a high degree of contact with Spanish-speaking parents, interpret and translate for school administrators, registrar, attendance personnel, counselors, and provide auxiliary classroom bilingual instructional assistance as assigned. Provide clerical/technical support services, interpret orally and translate written material in Spanish, and perform journey-level clerical duties with general supervision. Compensation and Hours Starting salary: $3,270.83 monthly. Number of months: 9.4 (to begin as soon as possible). Number of hours: 8 daily (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
