Lead Software Engineer
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite) Job Type: Contract
Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer – Java to join a high-performing engineering team supporting mission-critical Fixed Income trading platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong server-side Java development expertise, hands-on experience with electronic trading systems, and deep knowledge of Fixed Income products.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional software development experience with Java.
- Strong expertise in Core Java and server-side application development.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns.
- Experience working with both modern and legacy enterprise applications.
- Strong knowledge of the Fixed Income domain, with hands-on experience in US Treasuries or Interest Rate Swaps.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact directly with business users and technology stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic trading platforms and venues, including Tradeweb, Bloomberg, BrokerTec, eSpeed, or Fenics.
- Prior experience developing algorithmic trading solutions.
- Experience building or supporting low-latency trading applications.
- Working knowledge of Python and willingness to work across multiple technologies as business needs evolve.
- Experience using AI-powered developer tools such as Claude Code or similar command-line coding assistants.
