Lead Software Engineer - Tax Product Development

Job Summary:The Lead Software Engineer, Tax Product Development plays a critical role in designing and implementing complex features and solutions that support the tax practice and delivery of services to clients. The Lead Software Engineer owns end-to-end delivery of large features or systems, defining technical requirements and architecture for tax products and solutions. This role requires collaboration across global teams and cross-functional groups in a hybrid (in-person and virtual) work environment.Job Duties:Leads design and implementation of major systems and features within an Agile team focused on tax solutionsDesigns, develops, and tests software solutions using web and cloud technologies for innovative tax productsApplies modern software engineering principles throughout the software lifecycle for tax-related applicationsReviews business requirements for technical feasibility and collaborate with various teams to deliver quality tax software productsMentors junior engineers to enhance code quality and performance, and ensure compliance with standards in tax product developmentMaintains Tax products and platforms based on product roadmaps, production support process and complies with IT, security, and business compliance mandatesEffectively communicates with stakeholders and cross functional teams such as technical architects and security teams and othersChampions secure coding and technical debt reduction, while staying up to date with technology trends and evangelizes modern methods of software engineering and innovationOther duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibilities:Acts as a direct supervisor to team members, as assigned Acts as a career advisor, as assigned Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Education:Bachelor's degree required, with a focus in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), Finance, or Accounting, preferredExperience:Six (6) or more years of hands-on experience with building web-based apps using the full Microsoft stack, including C#, ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, Typescript), React, or similar, requiredSix (6) or more years of experience in developing stored procedures and database schemas utilizing SQL Server, Azure SQL, or NOSQL databases, requiredSix (6) or more years of experience in designing and automating CI/CD/DevOps Pipelines, preferredSix (6) or more years of experience working with Microsoft Azure and Azure Portal, preferredSix (6) or more years of experience with Monitoring Tools such as App Monitoring, App Insights, and Power BI, preferredProficient in applying software engineering and object-oriented programming principles, preferredStrong experience in software design, algorithms, data structures, data modeling, and design patterns, preferredExpertise in writing clean code, leading code reviews, minimizing technical debt, and establishing coding standards and best practices within a team, preferredProven ability to lead and mentor a team of software engineers, preferredExperience in project management and delivering complex software projects on time, preferredProven ability to align software development with business goals and strategic vision, while encouraging innovation and continuous improvement within a team, preferredLicense/Certifications:Microsoft MTA / MCSD, Azure Fundamentals (Az-900), Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, or Azure Solutions Architect, preferredOther Certifications in Microsoft, Azure MTA / MCSD, preferredSoftware:Proficient with scripting tools such as PowerShell, Graph API, and Azure CLI, preferredExperience with the following products, preferred:Microsoft Office SuiteMicrosoft Visual StudioMicrosoft Azure Dev Ops or GitHubMicrosoft SQL Server and/or Azure SQL DBMicrosoft Power BI and PowerAppsAzure functions Debug ToolsOther Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Ability to work well in hybrid and remote environmentsSolid verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills, including training/instruction with professionals at all levelsSound decision-making skillsAbility to work in a deadline-driven environment while handling multiple complex projects/tasks simultaneously with a focus on detailsCapable of successfully multi-tasking while working independently or within a group environmentAbility to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsCapable of working well under pressure while dealing with unexpected problems in a professional mannerAbility to communicate and interact with all levels of employees and managementIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.National Range: $140,000 - $210,000Maryland Range: $140,000 - $210,000NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $140,000 - $210,000At BDO, how we show up matters.
